Friscovania 2018: Past, Present and Beyond

Friscovania 2018: Past, Present and Beyond | Model Behaviors

In 2012, Model Behaviors was launched as an online community of women helping women. Over time it has evolved into an organization of close friends and fellow members of the fashion industry, creating one-of-a-kind community events. After losing our dear friend and member of Model Behaviors to stage IV breast cancer in May of 2016, our group has come together with tremendous purpose. Today, we focus on granting organizations helping women and children in transition to embody the model behaviors they need to lead healthy, productive, and more meaningful lives. Through our event Friscovania, created in memory of Kelly, we are able to give the proceeds to deserving organizations in the community, while inviting the children they serve, to enjoy a day filled with spooktacular fun. Our little community has continued to thrive despite the hardest of circumstances, so much so that we’re currently in the process of becoming a 501C3.

Friscovania 2018 marks the third year for this community event and partnership with FC Dallas. It first debuted on October 22, 2016 at Toyota Stadium and was hosted by Mayor Maher Maso and his wife Cindy Maso, who designated the event a Mayor’s Safe Trick-Or-Treat Zone with the City of Frisco. In just under three months, the event raised over $100,000 and welcomed over 3000 visitors. All proceeds went to City House, a transitional shelter for children and young adults.

In 2017, with our extended commitment to City House, Model Behaviors, along with FC Dallas and honorary master and mistress of ceremonies, Randy and Kristy Pitchford of Gearbox Software, raised $150,000 in proceeds with more than 4,500 people in attendance. We were able to help City House obtain their Women’s Transitional Living Program House, better accommodating youths ages 18-22 and serving the increasing North Texas population of underserved young women aging out of foster care.

This year, Model Behaviors and FC Dallas are dedicated to continuing Kelly’s kind and selfless legacy through our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County. Friscovania 2018 will support the BGCCC’s mission to enable all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

In one of the fastest growing areas in the country, the BGCCC assists over 3,020 members in afterschool and summer programs, bettering the lives of 8,500 young people annually and providing a safe, positive environment during the most vulnerable hours of a child’s day. By converting these hours into time that helps children and teenagers reach their full potential, the BGCCC provides more than 126,000 hours of homework time and serves over 191,000 meals.

With school districts in Frisco, McKinney, and Plano projected to have over 142,000 students by the end of this year, BGCCC is needed now more than ever. The greatest, immediate challenge they face is providing dependable transportation for the children to their locations. Friscovania is committed to fulfilling BGCCC’s goal of ensuring each child can be reliably and safely transported where needed. We’re looking forward to making this year the best year yet for the children of BGCCC and the young trick-or-treaters of Friscovania!
