We’re doing something special for this month’s Wellness Wednesday series. Each of our Mommy Makeover participants has shown so much strength, fortitude, and determination throughout the first month of the contest. The results from our first check-in have blown me away. On our Comeback Circle Facebook group, they check in with us every day, lending inspiration to everyone around them—both online and offline. I thought, “Why not bring that positive, transformative energy to our wellness series?!”
So throughout the month of March, each Wednesday we’ll hear from one of our participants. Our theme this month is renewal. They’ve chosen quotes that resonate with them on this topic and have also shared a little bit about how this quote and theme will get them through the last two months of the contest, stronger and more determined than ever!
This week please give Renee a warm Model Behaviors welcome!
As I read this quote over and over, I feel as though I threw myself out. I threw away so many of the things I loved about myself because I became so consumed with being a mom and a wife. Essentially, I lost myself, my self-worth, and my visions for the future.
When starting this Mommy Makeover journey, I wanted to find my old self and bring her back to life. I now realize I cannot bring the old me back or go back in time because life is different now. But, just because life is different doesn’t mean I can’t bring back pieces of what I liked about the old me to restore and reclaim.
For instance, I liked being in shape and having patience. I liked being thoughtful and a tad organized when needed. This journey has opened my eyes and reminded me that just because I’m a mom and a wife doesn’t mean I have to give up the things I love and strive for. In fact, I should strive even harder for my family and my children because it makes me a better person. It makes me better in my everyday life. Already, I’ve had so many enjoyable moments with my kids, I’m so much more patient, and I’m happy!
For the first time in years I’m completely happy with what I’m doing and where I’m going. I feel great and I look great. I know part of this is from the diet and from making time for myself in the gym and enjoying it rather than feeling guilty about it.
I also know that this group has changed my life. I was in a rut. I was not enjoying being a stay-at-home mom, and I was feeling guilty for not appreciating that I could stay home. I was looking to fill a void and could never quite grasp where it was coming from. This group was my missing piece. This group has given me the inspiration to bring myself back and create the me that I want to be. It has given me the courage to work on myself and not think twice about why I should not or why I do not deserve it. The group has given me purpose and made me realize that I can be a great mom and wife but a great woman, too.
Since starting this journey, I feel as if I hit the reset button. I came in terrified yet completely open-minded to change because I knew I was in a dark place and needed to fix myself. I joined the gym at the beginning of our challenge and have found that since going to the gym, my mind goes back to places it has not been in forever. I think about things that I want to do, and I feel empowered and encouraged to do them. I come home tired but excited to put the ideas on paper, to share with our group that I did it. I feel great physically, but mentally, I feel happy and whole again. I’d like to believe that somehow or someday I would’ve found a way to get back to my happy self, but I’m honestly not sure I could’ve figured it out or found this sense of alignment and balance without the inspiration and wholeness that I receive from this group, these woman, and this experience.
And for this opportunity, the online friendships made, and the feelings of renewal, revival, and self-worth, I’m forever grateful. It’s bringing me to the best version of myself yet!
Thank you so much to Renee for contributing to this week’s Wellness Wednesday series! Be sure you check out her progress in our latest Mommy Makeover Contest check-in.
